Cosmetic Tattooing

At BeautyBelle we offer Cosmetic Tattooing for the brows using a popular European technique called ombre powder brows and combination brows. Top and bottom eyeliner for the eyes, lash enhancement and choice of full lip colour or lip line ombre style.

What is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Also known as semi-permanent make up, or micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing is the controlled insertion of safe colour pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. It’s safe, relatively painless, and means your eyebrows, eyes and lips are on point 24/7.

Lash Enhancement
The most natural, subtle eyeliner technique, where pigment is subtly applied to the lash line by adding colour amongst the lashes you already have to create the illusion that the lashes are thicker and darker. This can be done as a definite line (lasts longer) or a soft shadow. This suits anyone who wants a more natural appearance, but eyeliner pencil/pen will still have to be used to create more ‘make up’ looks. This technique can be applied to the upper or lower lash line, however please note an upper lash line procedure is usually thicker in comparison because there are more lashes to cover.

Beautybelle, Upper Lash Liner

Lower Lash Line
This technique can be applied to the upper or lower lash line, however please note a lower lash line contains fewer eyelashes, hence the result will be a finer line.

We begin the procedure always at the last lash (outer corner of the eye) but it depends on a clients wishes and eye shape to whether we tattoo the full length to the first lash (inner corner of the eye) or taper the eyeliner a little sooner and stop at 3/4.

Ombré Powder Brows

Also known as powder, mist, ombré shading, or stardust brows. Ombré powder brows differs from traditional tattooing. It is more superficial as the application is done on the epidermis layer of the skin. The results being powdery with a faded front and a crisp tail, resembling the look of makeup.  In the last 3-4 years, ombré powder brows have become extremely popular and often converting people with prior microblading work. Here are the advantages:

Why Choose Ombre Powder Brows?

  • Ombré powder brows are achieved using a small machine, which disperses extremely fine dots of pigments even into and across the skin in an airbrush or shading technique.
  • Less painful due to the airbrush technique we apply. This creates less trauma to the skin vs. the blading technique of microblading. The latter also creates cuts into the skin, therefore more bleeding is involved. With ombré powder brows, minimal to zero blood surfaces during the procedure.
  • Great for any skin type, unlike microblading. Oily skins are unsuitable as microblading requires several touch-ups, which causes more trauma to the skin. On average ombre powder brows can last 2-3 years.
  • Ombré powder brows have a more “filled-in” look, the healed results appear like a softly shaded brow pencil or powder. Your brows will fade 20-30%, leaving a very soft natural shape.

Full Lip Colour
Having a full lip colour tattoo is perfect for you if you wish to enhance the shape and fullness of your mouth. It’s also useful for correcting asymmetries. You may wish to try this procedure if you’re older and have lost lip definition, colour or shape. If you love to look glamorous 24/7, this lip tattoo procedure can be carried out to look like a full lipstick application. As with all cosmetic tattooing procedures, a lip tattoo will fade with time and will need maintenance to restore its vibrancy and to freshen up your colour. The fact that your tattoo won’t last forever is actually an advantage as lipstick fashions and even your personal tastes are subject to change over time.

Lip Liner Tattoo Vs. Full Lip Tattoo

If you’re considering having permanent lip makeup and are currently exploring your options,  you’ll no doubt be wondering which procedure is best for you, a lip liner tattoo or a full lip tattoo. Both of these options are useful if you have problems such as lip paleness, undefined lips, very thin lips, sun damage to your mouth area or even an allergy to lipstick. Let’s take a look at your options.

Lip Liner
If you opt for a lip liner tattoo, you’ll find that it gives your lips more definition. The procedure also corrects uneven lips and will result in a fuller more youthful appearance. A liner tattoo also helps prevent your lipstick from bleeding as well as minimising the appearance of wrinkles. You can either choose a softly lined natural look or alternatively go for a more defined shade for a lip-liner effect.

Semi Permanent Eyeliner

Eye liner can be drawn above the upper lashes or below the lower lashes or both.  We work with you to talk through and then create the perfect look. If you are after small lines to draw out your eyes or thick lines to go with your lashes we can help you get the look to last.

Expired makeup can harbour bacteria. When it comes to your eyes, this bacteria build-up can cause infections within the eye. Your eyes are so important and its vital that you treat them well. If you are using old and out of date liquid or pencil eyeliner you are increasing the chances of getting a nasty eye infection.

Semi-permanent eyeliner lasts for up to three years and removes this risk.

Why wear eyeliner?

When developing your own beauty regime it’s important to make sure each feature is nicely defined. Here at BeautyBelle it’s important to us that you give those eyes the attention they deserve; after all they are one of your most important features and what many people notice first about you.

At BeautyBelle we believe that eyeliner will draw all the attention to the colour of your Iris. Not only this but placing eyeliner on both the bottom and top of your eyes can create definition and make the lashes appear longer. Semi permanent eyeliner not only lasts for up to three years but gives you the definition needed to enhance your eyes. Your eyes deserve to shine so why not give them the glory they deserve with semi permanent eyeliner!

Most frequent questions and answers

Tattoos are made using ink while permanent makeup uses pigments. What is the difference you ask? Namely, permanent makeup uses iron oxide, a pigment that is deemed as the safest pigment. … We would also like to point out that the ink used in tattoos has a waterier consistency than the pigment in permanent makeup.

Microblading uses a hand tool to create realistic looking hair strokes in the brow line. Powdered brows help clients achieve more of a powdered or ombre look instead of individual hair strokes. Powdered brows have a soft makeup look and work great for clients with oily or mature skin. This method creates pixilated dots to mimic powder filled brows with no harsh front or outline.

This varies from person to person because skin type, diet, genetics and environmental factors can all contribute to how long the pigment will be retained.
As a guide, it could be anything between one to five years before a new treatment is required, although refresher colour boosts are recommended for maintenance within this time. Once you notice the colour starting to change, this is a good indication that you are due for a colour boost, which keeps your cosmetic tattoo refreshed.
It is important to remember that cosmetic tattooing is “low” not a “no” maintenance treatment.

Each client is unique. Generally, there is some swelling of the tattooed area. While eyebrows may show little after effect, eyeliner and lip procedures may produce SLIGHTLY more swelling lasting from two to seventy-two hours. During the procedure, there may be some bleeding and although rare, some bruising. There is usually very slight tenderness for a few days. The immediate post-procedure colour is darker than you may expect after five to ten days of healing.  A good recommendation is to plan your semi permanent cosmetic procedure when you have no special events to attend for several days afterward.

Treatment times vary depending on how advanced or detailed the required result is. You should set aside 3 hours for your appointment. Please know this prior to booking and set your schedule to suit.
Wear comfortable clothing and preferably no make-up. Remember to eat and bring water with you.

Eyebrows and eye liner treatments tend to look darker in colour immediately after the appointment, while lip colours can look more intense. This softens in a few days. Lips are likely to have some residual swelling and can chap, looking dry and flaky. There may be some slight swelling after eyeliner treatments but this is usually quite minimal.
